Pregnenolone

Pregnenolone is a precursor of many hormones, including progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, stress hormones (eg cortisol) and DHEA (deidroepaindrosterone, a precursor of sex steroids). The Pregnenolone can be synthesized by the adrenal glands and the central nervous system.

The exact function of the body Pregnenolone is not yet fully understood.
However, were conducted several studies on the effects of Pregnenolone on the nervous system and the aging process.

Some studies have suggested that it is able to improve the quality of sleep.

One study suggested that the monitoring of pilots under stress, he discovered that administration of 25mg of pregenolone twice a day was able to improve the performance of drivers without causing side effects.

Other studies have even documented some benefits of integration with Pregnenolone in a wide range of rheumatology disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoartite, gouty arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, scleroderma. Since the'40s in fact the pregenolone was used to reduce the swelling and inflammation of joints associated  artrite.

A double-blind study on mature women, revealed that the application of a cream to 0.5% of Pregnenolone could improve the appearance of the skin. However, once the application day, the results were not maintained.

Since Pregnenolone is the precursor of all steroid hormones, some scholars have suggested that increasing levels of organic Pregnenolone through dietary supplements you receive the same benefits of integration hormone. The same researchers believe that the Pregnenolone may improve brain function and mood, and argue that it could be useful for premenstrual syndrome, arthritis and stress.

Certain is that aging, Pregnenolone levels decrease. In some cases, it might therefore be helpful to take food supplements to Pregnenolone.

So far no known interactions with any drugs or side effects arising from integration with Pregnenolone. It was discovered that may increase the levels of progesterone and DHEA and, theoretically, those of other hormones. Therefore can act on the endocrine system. Again, there is no evidence about the possible side effects and interactions taking supplements of Pregnenolone.
